Hydro Seeding

Care Instructions for Newly Hydroseeded Lawns

Watering

Watering should begin 24 hours after the Hydra seed is applied to allow for sufficient time for the tac to set up. watering should occur in the morning and late afternoon hours, and twice a day for at least the first three weeks. After the initial three weeks, you can cut down to once a day. Each section that has been hyped or seated, you should be watered for 20 minutes each watering session. The goal is to keep the Hydra seed mulch moist, but without overwatering. If you begin to see puddles on the surface, stop watering. Once you begin your watering regiment, it is important to continue, especially on days when the temperatures are in the 80' or higher. Lack of watering can cause the new seeds to dry up in parish.

Crabgrass can be an indicator of adequacy of water. Our hydro-seed mix does not contain any crabgrass seeds. They are normally found in the soil. Crabgrass is a very tough weed that thrives without water, when the weaker seedlings die. If you begin to see a lot of crabgrass and not many grass seedlings, it is usually an ominous sign of lack of water.

Mowing

The first mowing can be done when the new grass is approximately 3 inches tall.star with very sharp blades on your mower. Adjust your mowing height so that it never takes off more than 1/3 inch off of the new blades of grass. You can gradually start taking more off as the grass matures. Also, don't collect the clippings for at least the first 3 mowings. They will biodegrade up a within the new turf and help feed the soil and plant while speeding up plant development.

Fertilizing

consult a professional before you fertilize your new on. Certain "weed and feed" fertilizers if applied too early can actually kill your new lawn! It is very beneficial to enroll in a professional fertilizing program that will insure all the grasses have the nutrients they need to continue to grow and mature.

Remember:

Your new lawn is still in its infancy. Even though your lawn may look fully established, it doesn't mean you can stop watering altogether or change your mowing practices! It takes months before your new lawn is ready for the stress of hot summers and cold winters.

**All guarantees are void if party does not fulfill proper watering requirements as outlined above (20 minutes per area, two times a day for the first 3 weeks, once a day thereafter)and if any unapproved fertilizers are used in the first six months without first consulting Commercial Landscape Management. Commercial landscape management cannot guarantee that in the event of a large rainfall that all material will stay in place, and if this occurs the need for reseeding may occur at an extra cost to the client.
